Chicago Cutlery Reviews: The 3 Best Sets Reviewed
Chicago Cutlery has been in the cutlery business for decades, and while their knives aren’t on par with the ones used by professional chefs, they offer exceptional quality for home use. The company’s knife sets also come at a price that most families can afford, which is something we all can appreciate.
But which Chicago Cutlery knife set is the best?
We put Chicago Cutlery’s knife sets to the test to see just how durable and effective they are. Three sets in particular stood out to us, and we’re going to share our reviews for each one below.
COMPARISON CHART: THE BEST CHICAGO CUTLERY SETS
[table id=16 /]
1. CHICAGO CUTLERY 19 PIECE KNIFE BLOCK REVIEW
With 19 pieces, an in-block sharpener and a wood cutting board, this knife set comes with everything you need to prep every food imaginable. This is our favorite set offered by Chicago Cutlery because not only do you get a wide range of different knives, but you also get the added convenience of having a sharpener built into the knife block.
What knives are included in this set?
- 3” peeler
- 3 1/4” paring
- 5” utility
- 6” boning
- 8” chef’s
- 8” serrated
- 7” Santoku
- 8” slicer
- 8 x 4/5” steak knives
This set also comes with shears and a bamboo cutting board. As you can see, every knife you could possibly need is included with this set.
You’ll be able to slice bread with ease, chop vegetables, bone meats, mince garlic, slice onions, and tackle any other food prep chore with this complete set of knives.
We used the Santoku knife to crush garlic, slice peppers, and mince fresh herbs with ease. The boning knife worked beautifully when preparing turkey and fish. On steak night, we put the eight included steak knives to the test. We were impressed.
All knives are made with high carbon stainless steel, which is resistant to rusting, pitting and staining. These knives are also highly durable and feature a full metal tang for added balance, strength and control.
If you’re used to using professional quality knives, you may be surprised at how light these knives are. Despite this, we felt that these knives were still perfectly balanced and felt comfortable in our hands.
To keep these knives exceptionally sharp, Chicago Cutlery includes an in-block sharpener. Simply slip the knife into the sharpener, and the blades will do the work for you. While the in-block sharpener isn’t the best (check our sharpening buying guide for some good options), but it’s highly convenient and easy-to-use.
We loved every aspect of this knife set, and never once had any issues with rusting. We did notice that a few other users complained about premature corrosion and rusting, but it’s important to note that these knives should always be hand washed and dried on the spot. Knives that are run through the dishwasher are more likely to develop rust, even if they’re made out of high quality stainless steel.
Of all Chicago Cutlery’s made sets, this 19 piece set was by far our favorite. It’s highly durable, affordable, comes with every knife you could ever need, and all the knives are incredibly sharp. The addition of the shears and the beautiful bamboo cutting board make this a complete knife set that any home cook would be proud of.

2. CHICAGO CUTLERY FUSION FORGED 18-PIECE KNIFE SET REVIEW
The Fusion Forged 18 piece knife set is affordable and comes with just about every knife you’ll need in the kitchen. It looks great in the kitchen, too. While it doesn’t have an in-block sharpener, Chicago Cutlery does include a honing steel to help keep your knives sharp.
Included with the Fusion Forged set are the following knives:
- 8” slicer
- 5” utility
- 25” paring
- 3” peeler
- 75” chef
- 75” bread
- 5” Partoku
- 7” Santoku
- 8 x 4.25” steak knives
All of the blades feature Chicago Cutlery’s Taper Grind edge technology, which keeps blades sharper for longer and makes them easy to re-sharpen when necessary.
When compared to the previous set we reviewed, we actually preferred the handles of these knives. They’re comfortable and fit in your hand well. All of the knives are full tang as well, so they’re highly durable.
Made of high carbon stainless steel, these knives are strong, incredibly sharp, and resistant to rusting. That said, you want to avoid washing these knives in the dishwasher. To keep them looking and performing their best, it’s best to hand wash these knives.
We loved that this knife collection included both a Partoku and a Santoku knife. This adds even more versatility to the set. For those of you who don’t know, the Partoku knife is actually a registered trademark of Chicago Cutlery, so it’s the brand’s own unique knife. It’s sort of a cross between a Santoku and a paring knife. While you won’t use this knife to peel, it’s just the right size for slicing, chopping and dicing. We also used it to slice cheese because it’s the perfect size.
We were a little disappointed that this set did not include a boning knife. But at this price range, you can’t complain.
For the price, this is a great knife set. While it’s not quite as extensive as the previous set that we reviewed (which includes shears, a boning knife and a cutting board), it still includes just about every knife you’ll ever need and is backed by a full lifetime warranty.

3. CHICAGO CUTLERY BELMONT 16-PIECE BLOCK REVIEW
Our third and final pick is the most affordable option, but don’t let its price fool you – these are high quality knives. While this set isn’t quite as robust as the previous two, it’s still a great choice for anyone who is on a tight budget.
We were impressed by how sharp these knives were, but weren’t huge fans of the handle material.
The following knives are included in the set:
- 75” chef’s
- 8” bread
- 5” utility
- 3” peeler
- 5” paring
- 8 x 4.25” steak
You’ll also get shears, a sharpening steel, and a wood block.
Like other Chicago Cutlery knives, these had no issue chopping vegetables and dicing or slicing anything we threw at it. The only thing we didn’t like, as we mentioned previously, was the knife handle – which is made of durable plastic. While still durable, we prefer the rubberized material or the metal used in the previous two sets.
Despite this, the Belmont set is still an excellent choice for anyone looking for an affordable knife set.

IT’S YOUR TURN: CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE
All of these knife sets are high quality, affordable and incredibly sharp. Sure, they’re not perfect, nor are they on par with Wusthof in terms of quality, but they’re more than efficient for everyday home use. Even avid home cooks who love to spend time in the kitchen will enjoy these knife sets. We highly recommend the Chicago Cutlery brand and these three sets.
